Hydrochrome Extreme® To Go Kits (35-40 sqft)

The Hydrochrome Extreme Kit (35-40sqmt) includes:

• Silvering solutions EX1/EX2 (1 litre) and EX3 ready mixed (1 litre).  2-3 months shelf life.

• Hydrochrome Extreme basecoat (Please state if you need Airdry OR oven Bake) - this requires access to a standard spray gun set up for application
• Hydrochrome Extreme basecoat catalyst
• Hydrochrome Extreme basecoat thinner

• Hydrochrome Extreme Anti UV topcoat - this requires access to a standard spray gun set up for application
• Hydrochrome Extreme Anti UV topcoat catalyst
• Hydrochrome Extreme Anti UV topcoat thinner

• 1 x red dual chamber trigger sprayer bottle (for silver solutions)
• 1x trigger sprayer bottle (wetting agent) + concentrated wetting agent                 
  
• 1 x trigger sprayer bottle (for activator solution) + pure activator
• 1 x trigger sprayer bottle (for antioxidant solution) + antioxidant

Additional Materials Required:

1. Spray booth

2. Low bake oven capable of reaching 60°C or a drying cabinet with a heater for the oven bake basecoat for the Air dry a room capable of reaching 20c for 24 hours.

3. Fluid catcher tray and mini turn table.

4. A spray mask for 2K paints for applying the basecoat and topcoats. Do not use any type of carbon mask, it needs to be able to filter out isocyanates B1 classification. You will also need rubber gloves and eye protection.

5. Spray gun for applying the basecoat and topcoat. (Topcoat will need a 1.3mm 0r 1.4mm needle set up)

6. A water-based spray gun for rinsing between the stages. If you are using a spray gun for water rinsing, make sure your air feed from your compressor to your spray gun is perfectly clean and moisture free as there are minerals from the minerals in the compressed air which will play havoc with the silver! A good way of testing your rinsing water is to spray some water through your spray gun into a plastic cup then use the TDS meter to test the mineral content of the water.

7. Jigs for holding items to be sprayed to enable you to move the items around without putting fingerprints on them and keep them clear from splashes from waste fluids.

8. Approximately 10 litres of mineral free water (also known as RO water). This can be purchased from our online shop.

It’s a good idea to use a high temp glue gun to fix the items to your jig. Set them at an angle so that the fluids run off. This must have a mineral content of 0.00 (use the electric TDS meter that comes with the kit to check the mineral content reading).

Spray-On Chrome UK

Spray on chrome in the UK has become very popular for coating crash helmets, so due to many requests and a bit of practice, we have chrome sprayed a large motorbike crash helmet and visor using our dual nozzle trigger sprayer bottles. We used 170ml of A1/2 solution and 170ml of B solution. This works out that 16sq ft of solutions using a trigger sprayer bottle should easily cover 6 large motorbike helmets depending on the experience of the sprayer. This would not include silvering the visor.

When using the spray on chrome on something this size we would recommend you used a water-based spray gun for rinsing off the solutions.

Coloured Chrome

Once the item has been silvered, you can then add a coloured tint to the topcoat to create a coloured chrome.

Please note: coloured tints are not included in this kit and must be purchased separately.

Please note: while the silvering chemicals can be applied using handheld trigger sprayers, the base coat and top coat require spray gun application. Please read the Technical Data Sheet for full information.
